i am so. fucking. thrilled.

my uncle and his friend came over to set up a new modem. we basically spent 5 hours doing that, so I won't go into specifics. ~~whjx your awesome healer is still going to be dced when someone uses the house phone until my dad gets a filter thingy.~~ that's not the interesting bit.

AND ON TOP OF THAT

HE GAVE ME. A GUITAR TUNER. AND TWO GUITAR DISTORTION PEDALS. TWO.

then when he saw my guitar equipment he was rather surprised. because apparently to him, my guitar and amp are quite high-end brands, SOMETHING WHICH I TOTALLY DIDNT KNOW LOL.

initially he said he wanted to come by and check out the effect of his pedals and stuff, since I've got an electric guitar setup, so I was like sure. during the whole session he was like teaching me how to use his pedals and the tuner, so I listened la. it was damn interesting but i was wondering how come he was teaching me since he was just testing out what. then at the end-

My ever first published scientific paper! It's recently published at a journal database, and it's now available online. YAY! Our FYP fruits of labour are now fulfilled!

Me and my partner (whose name is blanked out for security reasons) are co-authors of the paper, and the first two names in the paper belong to my co-supervisor and supervisor respectively.

that was our work last semester ago la. we're now working on another project for our attachment, but it's proving to be much more challenging than the previous one. but if we really do get good results, we get to publish another paper, but aiyar. the current work that we're doing is rather disappointing.

today the two of us + anil (without partner, but he's working on a diff. project than us) had to meet up with dr geng for presentation on our progress.

Ours was uneventful, but anil's was epic.

watched coraline in 3D yesterday with rey at vivo . I think it was the last showing, so it was rather last-minute. XD

The movie was.
fucking.
awesome.

It was so awesome, that right after the movie, we crossed straight over to the bookshop outside of the cinema, and I bought the book, because the movie was adapted from a book. And the rims of the pages from the book were in black, so it looked like the pages were black too, from the side.

It's a beautiful blend of horror and fantasy for children, god it was so good, it was better than Corpse Bride.

And that's saying something.

Everything was fucking perfect, the graphics, the colors, the characters, the voice actors (I loved Teri Hatcher in this), and the Cat's voice was spot-on, the plotline was fucking original, but two things that really stood out was the-

1) DETAIL

Almost everything had a foreshadowing in the beginning. When the initial credits rolled out right at the start of the movie, we see a pair of metal hands crafting the rag-dolls, and in the end it's revealed that THE METAL HANDS WERE THE OTHER MOTHER'S!!

And then we saw buttons everywhere, and I loved how the whole idea of buttons was included in the music.

And there's so much other stuff that just makes you go OMG!!!

When Coraline's parents went missing cos they went to look for her in the other world, there was this part when she climbed onto her parents' bed (which was empty), and then she fashioned mannequins of her parents using pillows and her dad's glasses and she kissed them goodnight even though they weren't her real parents and she ended up crying herself to sleep-

I teared a bit too.

You know it's a different sort of "cartoon" when I end up crying a bit!

2) MUSIC

The music is different.

And I'm not kidding.

during the movie, we thought it was french. but when I did some research, it turned out that all of the songs sung in the movie were nonsense language, but with a french accent cos the singers were all French.

This is my favorite song out of all of them all, played mainly by the harp, I think. The melody is fucking perfect, all dreamy and melodious and sad and wonderful at the same time-

Exploration

IT'S A SONG MADE UP OF COMPLETE GIBBERISH BUT IT'S FUCKING AWESOME. It's those type of songs that make you smile straight from the beginning.

It might only be 2 mins, but it's 2 mins of pure heaven.

It's not those type of movies that you watch and then you forget about it the minute you exit the theater. It's something that stays with you, it's something that makes you think, there's some parts that make you wanna laugh, wanna gasp, wanna scream, it's horrible and dark and twisted and scary yet childish and exciting and magical and beautiful at the same time-

so my mother randomly decided to book hippo tours tonight. for those of you that dont know what that is: its the awesome purple bus that drives around singapore to show the sights. today we went to little india, kampong glam and chinatown.

OMG ITS REALLY DAMN NICE!!! THE WIND IS DAMN SHIOK COS ITS ALL WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!! the guide that was talking was rather cool too.

and then we had good supper. our dinner was crap la. so straight after dinner we went to the ride. then after the ride:

and then we went to smith street for awesome stingray and I COULDNT RESIST BUT TO ORDER THE TANG YUAN TOO.

yes, and that was one hour and a half after DINNER, where we ate proper noodles and stuff.
